Hey there, friends!
This is it—my very first blog post, and I couldn’t be more excited to start this new chapter with all of you. 🎉
Lately, life has been a bit of a whirlwind. Like many of us, I’ve found it challenging to stay centered and happy amidst everything happening in the world. Spending too much time scrolling through social media wasn’t doing my mental health any favors, so I decided it was time for a change. Last week, I hit the “delete” button on my socials and decided to start this blog instead.
Why a blog? Writing has always been a great way for me to process my thoughts and feelings, and I’m hoping this space will be a positive outlet—not just for me but for anyone who stumbles across it. Don’t worry; it’s not going to be all politics (I promise). This blog will be a mix of everything that brings me joy—beautiful photos of Whidbey Island and Washington State, adventures with my family, and deep dives into my hobbies like PC gaming, quilting, and crafting. My interests are all over the place, but hey, that’s part of the fun!
A little about me: I live on stunning Whidbey Island with my husband, Karl. We’ve been together for over 25 years, and together, we’re raising an incredible 13-year-old daughter who happens to be transgender. We recently moved from Iowa to Washington—a state that celebrates inclusivity and offers some of the best protections for transgender individuals. It was a big move, but one we’re so grateful for.
We’re also animal lovers through and through! Our little fur family includes Piper, a sweet mini Goldendoodle; Ollie, our lovable (but grumpy) Shih Tzu; Rosie, a spirited Miniature Schnauzer; and Cher, our less than playful Sphynx cat. Each one of them adds much joy and character to our home.
I’m excited to use this space to share pieces of my world, connect with like-minded people, and build a community rooted in positivity, inclusivity, and shared passions. If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, I’d love for you to follow along and subscribe!
Here’s to new beginnings, creative outlets, and exploring everything life has to offer. Thanks for reading—I can’t wait to share more with you soon!
Cheers!
Mike
